I build things I wish already existed.

Hi, I'm Mobasity. It's the name I've gone by online since I was a kid. This is where I keep the things I build, run, and share. I use every one of them myself, which is the best reason to keep them working.

things to try

behind the scenes

The projects that make the other projects possible.

  • Lighthouse

    live · 1.0.0

Push code to GitHub; my server builds and deploys it for me.

  • Cove

    live · 1.0.0

A little vault that keeps the other projects' passwords, keys and secrets in one place.

  • CoveClient

    live

A Go library for talking to Cove without writing the same secret-handling code again.

  • Watches Letterboxd activity and passes along movie updates for the bot to share.

  • Ward

    in the workshop

A Go library for checking text against moderation and content-safety rules.

  • Sonar

    in the workshop

A window into what my server and its containers are doing, so I find out about problems before you do.

small stuff

Tools Small utilities too tiny to get their own front door. Yet.

Experiments Things I tried because I was curious. Some stayed. Some didn't.

more about how they work

How I build

  1. 01

    Start with a real itch.

Most of these exist because I wanted something and couldn't find quite the right thing.

  2. 02

Make it work, then make it better.

Ship something useful. Keep improving it. Occasionally rebuild the parts I swore were fine.

  3. 03

    Run it myself.

Everything here runs on a server in my house. Deploys go through Lighthouse and secrets live in Cove, two of the projects on this page.

The idea pile

Things I'll build someday. Probably.

  • Code to graph

Hand it a repository. Get a map of the APIs, functions, dependencies, and all the places things connect.

  • Tally

A scoreboard for Twitch chat, because someone always wants to keep score.

  • The tiny-tools shelf

A proper home for the scripts and little fixes that are useful but don't need their own website.

Questions

Who's Mobasity?
Me. It's the name I've used online since I was a kid. No company, no big team. Just one person building things because I like building things.
Can I use your stuff?
Yep, the public projects are meant to be used. Anyone can sign up for Plop, and Marquee is open to everyone. Some projects are still being built, and the behind-the-scenes ones are more for curious developers.
Why host everything yourself?
Because I can, and because it's half the fun. Also, I now know more about Docker, PostgreSQL and Cloudflare Tunnels than I ever planned to.
Something's broken.
Check the status page first. If it's not on there, email me and I'll take a look.
Can you add a feature to a project?
Maybe! Tell me what you've got. It can join the idea pile.
What's with all the names?
I like giving things their own little identities. Some become real projects. Some stay ideas with unusually good names.
Is there a Discord?
Yep. Come hang out, talk projects, or share an idea. Join the Discord.

that's everything. for now.
